Crews Cleaning Diesel Fuel Spill After Farmer Ruptures Line
GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Crews have been cleaning diesel fuel that spilled from a ruptured line in southwestern Michigan.
WOOD-TV reports that the damaged line had been uncovered Saturday in Van Buren County's Geneva Township. Wolverine Pipe Line Co. officials were examining the extent of the damage.
The company says about 8,400 gallons of fuel were released Friday after a farmer working in his field drove some equipment over the line, causing the rupture.
The pipeline runs from the Grand Haven area to Niles.
The company is working with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality in the cleanup.
