Cowboy Hat Wearing Suspect Arrested In Waterford Bank Robbery

WATERFORD (WWJ) - A man who sported a cowboy hat when he allegedly robbed a bank has been taken into police custody.

Twenty-five-year old Kevin Ryan McClanahan was arrested Wednesday morning at the Parkway Motel in Springfield Township, six days after the Citizen's Bank on Highland Road in Waterford Township was robbed.

Police say McClanahan was taken into custody after he was previously spotted by a Waterford Police detective outside of the motel.

McClanahan is accused of walking into the bank at 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 1 and announcing a holdup. After the teller handed over the cash, McClanahan allegedly fled the scene in an older model, white, standard cab pickup truck.

McClanahan was arraigned at the 51st District Court on one count bank robbery. Bond was set at $250,000 cash. He's due back in court for a pre-trial conference on September 20, and is currently lodged in the Oakland County Jail.
