DETROIT (AP) — A new computer lab and learning center that's backed by Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell's foundation is opening in the city.
The Project Phoenix Learning Center is funded by the Jim and Cheryl Caldwell Foundation and is the seventh such center nationwide. Located at the Butzel Family Center, it includes 20 new computers, Internet accessibility and specialized interactive instructional software.
A grand opening event is Friday. Caldwell and his wife, Cheryl, are to be joined by Mayor Mike Duggan and Detroit Recreation Department leaders.
