Company Recalls School Buses Due To Steering And Fuel Issues

(WWJ) -- School may not be in session for most kids, but when your child does ride a bus, chances are it's was manufactured by the Blue Bird Corp.

Now, a few thousand Blue Bird buses are being recalled due to steering and fuel problems.

Georgia-based Blue Bird is recalling 2,500 of its All-American school buses, as well as some transit buses, to fix a problem that could make steering more difficult. The problem can develop on buses manufactured between 2011 and this May if a steering shaft clamp comes into contact with a rubber boot on the floor.

Also, Blue Bird is recalling 400 smaller buses that may be prone to a propane fuel leak. The propane system is built by Livonia-based Roush Clean-Tech. No accidents or injuries associated with either call-back.
