Commission Makes Michigan Fishing Regulation Changes

CEDARVILLE, Mich. (AP) — Officials have approved a number of changes in Michigan fishing regulations, including rules affecting walleye and perch in Lake Huron's Saginaw Bay.

The state Natural Resources Commission approved the revisions during its meeting last week in Cedarville.

Many of the changes took effect immediately and will remain in place for the 2016 season.

For Saginaw Bay, the daily possession limit for walleye increased from five to eight fish and the minimum size limit was reduced from 15 to 13 inches. For yellow perch, the daily possession limit was reduced from 50 to 25 fish.

The commission also decided to have separate possession limits for largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye and flathead catfish. Previously, those species were managed under a combined possession limit.
