Of course, the event has a great deal of smaller happenings going on, which can make it difficult to stay up-to-date with everything going on. Here are a few of the things you should definitely be on the look out for:

CBS' Exclusive Screenings and Panels:

On the very first day of Comic-Con, CBS will show an exclusive premiere screening of the highly anticipated new CBS series "Supergirl" and "Limitless," a special sneak peek at the newest summer event series, "Zoo," and a look at what's ahead for the hit returning series "Scorpion," "Extant" and "Under The Dome."

Big Studio Reveals:

Film studios like 20th Century Fox, Lucasfilm and Warner Bros. are each rolling out footage of some of their much-hyped, upcoming films like "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice," "Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part II."  Convention-goers will see it all first, but it'll only be a matter of time before the rest of the world gets a chance to see everything for themselves.

Celebrity Appearances:

In recent years, the influx of celebrities appearing at Comic-Con, have seen the likes of Chris Hemsworth, Olivia Munn, Robert Downey Jr. and Jessica Alba, and this year, you can expect to see even more big names. Ben Affleck is scheduled to make an appearance to support his role as Batman while Halle Berry will make her rounds for "Extant." But you definitely don't want to miss the A-listers who will be walking around the convention in costume and incognito. Keep a sharp eye and you never know who you'll see.

Cosplay Galore:

If there is one thing synonymous with Comic-Con, it's cosplay. Fans around the country and globe go to great lengths to dress up as their favorite television, film, video game and comic book characters.  Some of the fans even take it a step further to bring their characters to life, so don't be surprised when you can't tell the difference between a person and a Kree (whatever that is).

The William Shatner:

No science fiction convention would be authentic without the incomparable William Shatner, also known as the infamous Captain James T. Kirk. The actor, whose sci-fi roles have spanned from "Star Trek" to "The Twilight Zone," will be in attendance at Comic-Con this year to read his new book "The Autobiography of James T. Kirk." Yes, William Shatner is reading a book about the life of the fictional character he's most well-known for. Things can't get more strangely exciting than that.
