DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - Tiger fans looking to post selfies with Paws to Instagram, share score updates to Twitter and check Miguel Cabrera's batting average will have an easier time this season with the addition of Wi-Fi at Comerica Park.

The addition of Wi-Fi at Comerica Park is part of a Major League Baseball initiative to provide access to the Internet in all 30 MLB ballparks this season.

With the addition of 600 Wi-Fi access points throughout the seating areas, concourses, suites and fun zones such as the carousel, fans will no longer have to use their data plans on their smart phones to access the Internet.

"You will notice the improvement," said Ron Colangelo, Tigers vice president of communications, who stated the Wi-Fi will allow fans to share their ballpark memories.

In addition to the Wi-Fi, Colangelo is recommending fans use the Ballpark app available for iOS and Android users to get the latest team information, ticket information and upgrades, stadium maps and game highlights.

The addition of Wi-Fi is the latest tech upgrade at Comerica. In recent years the team has installed an HD video board and added 400 new flat screen HD television throughout the park.

Moving forward, the team will be installing a DAS system over the summer that will upgrade the cellular connectivity and distribution for mobile phone users.

Opening Day will be the first test of the Wi-Fi system, and Colangelo said the will "be tweaking and testing the system" throughout the first homestand.

Comerica is the latest Detroit stadium to add Wi-Fi. In recent months Joe Louis Arena, the Palace of Auburn Hills and Ford Field have all upgraded technology and wireless connectivity for fans.
