College Golfer Wins Michigan Amateur Championship

CHARLEVOIX (AP) — A college golfer from the Detroit area has won the 103rd Michigan Amateur Championship.

Henry Do of Canton Township defeated Steve Anderson of Troy on the 19th hole Friday at Belvedere Golf Club in Charlevoix.

Do tied Anderson after sending a 180-yard shot within a foot of the 18th hole. At the extra hole, Do finished with par while Anderson missed a par putt from seven feet.

Do is a 19-year-old golfer at the University of North Carolina. He says the grounds crew did a great preparing Belvedere after a rough winter.
