Cody High School Set To Get New Football Field
DETROIT (AP) — Cody High School on Detroit's west side is getting a new football field.
Life Remodeled will break ground at 10 a.m. Friday across the street from the school at Stein Playfield.
The new field will feature synthetic turf. The school district will provide bleachers.
The project is expected to cost $650,000. About $291,000 already has been raised. The Detroit-based Skillman Foundation has contributed $200,000.
Cody has not had a home football field in eight years. The Comets have been playing home games at other fields due to vandalism and irrigation problems at Stein Playfield.
Life Remodeled is a Detroit-focused nonprofit that hopes to renovate the school and the surrounding neighborhood. Detroit Public Schools and volunteers are helping with the football field.
