Clinton Township Official Indicted In Bribery Investigation

DETROIT (AP) - A public official has been indicted on eight bribery charges as part of an investigation of corruption in suburban Detroit.

The indictment filed Wednesday against Dean Reynolds will trump the criminal complaint filed in October.

Reynolds, a trustee in Clinton Township, is accused of accepting more than $60,000 from representatives of two companies that had business with the Macomb County township.

Reynolds returns to federal court on Nov. 10. A message seeking comment was left with his attorney.

Prosecutors haven't identified the businesses. But trash hauler Rizzo Environmental Services says it's cooperating with the investigation.

Separately, a trustee in Macomb Township, Clifford Freitas, is charged with bribery. He worked for Rizzo while serving on the township board.

A trustee is similar to a member of a city council.
