Clarkston Man Charged In Theft Of Siberian Husky Outside Kroger

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A 29-year-old Clarkston man has been charged in the theft of a Siberian Husky.

The dog, named Kodi, was swiped on Monday evening from outside the Kroger store, at Long Lake and Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Township, on where his owner had tied him up while he shopped.

After about 20 minutes, the owner returned to where he left Kodi, but the dog was gone.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 20s, driving a Jeep Wrangler.

"Kodi" was stolen from outside Kroger in Bloomfield Township on Dec. 14. (police handout)

After a photo of Kodi went viral on social media, police received an anonymous tip. They found the dog, unharmed, at Joseph Benson's mobile home in Clarkston.

Benson was arrested. He was arraigned Thursday in 48th District Court on a charge of larceny of $200 or more but less than $1,000.

Bond was set at $25,000 cash. He's due back in court on Jan. 7.
