Choir Wins Chance To Perform National Anthem At Tigers Game

DETROIT (AP) — A choir from suburban Detroit is scheduled perform the national anthem at the Detroit Tigers on Saturday.

Comerica Bank says the Lake Orion High School Chorale won the Star Spangled Choir National Anthem Singing Contest. The choir also gets a $5,000 grant and 45 tickets to the game for friends and family. The contest is part of Fan Appreciation Weekend at Comerica Park.

Local choir members submitted videos of their choirs singing the national anthem. Submissions were reviewed by a panel of judges from the Tigers and Comerica Bank to narrow down the submissions to a top 10. Public voting determined the winner.

Dakota Mixed Varsity Choir finished in second followed by the Rochester College A Capella Chorus. This is the third year of the singing contest.
