Child Killed, 4 Others Injured In House Fire On Detroit's East Side

DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities say a 3-year-old boy is dead after an early morning fire on Detroit's east side.

The fire took off early Tuesday morning at a home on Bessemore street, in a neighborhood along Harper and Van Dyke avenues. Other circumstances surrounding the blaze weren't immediately clear.

Two other children and two adults were taken to the hospital, although the extent of their injuries is unknown.

Arson investigators have been called to the scene but officials say it appears the fight might have been a tragic accident, with the blaze possibly originating in the kitchen.

An investigation is ongoing.
