Child Dies Of Flu In Oakland County

OAKLAND COUNTY (WWJ) A tragedy is being reported in Oakland County where health officials say a school aged child has died from flu complications.

It is the first flu death in Michigan this season, which so far has been considered a milder than usual flu season.

The health department recommends that everyone over the age of 6 months receive a flu shot. Some people are at a greater risk including the very young and the elderly.

Information about where the child lived and the circumstances surrounding the death has not been released.
