1-Year-Old Boy Hospitalized After Dog Attack In Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - A 1-year-old boy is hospitalized after he was attacked by a dog on Detroit's west side.
According to police, the toddler was attacked by a family pet at a home in the 18500 block of Muirland Street, in the area of Livernois and 7 Mile Road, at around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Police say the child tried to take a toy away from the dog — a 14-month old male Gordon Setter — and that's what set the animal off. No further details about the incident were released.
The injured boy was taken by EMS to a local hospital where he was listed in serious condition Wednesday afternoon.
The dog, which was recently taken in by the family, was taken from the home and is now in the custody of Detroit Animal Control. It's future is unclear at this time.
