PONTIAC (WWJ) - Charges will be filed against a 33-year-old Pontiac man accused of dragging his wife with a car.

The suspect allegedly had been drinking took off in his wife's car early Sunday morning and was found in the vehicle with another woman in Brandon Township, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

When the wife tried to take the keys from the vehicle — fearing he was drunk  — the husband allegedly drove away, dragging his 34-year-old wife for about 30 feet before she was pushed to the ground and hit by the car.

The woman was not seriously injured, but taken to McLaren Oakland Hospital for treatment of cuts and scratches to her hands, arms and knees.

The husband was arrested a short time later without incident, Sheriff's officials said.

The man remains lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending a formal charge of felonious assault with a motor vehicle.  His name has not yet been released.
