#CHADTOUGH -- Carr Family Asks For Prayers, Support

By Laura Bonnell

The grandson of former University of Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr, Chad, will go through a few more weeks of radiation -- the 4-year-old has a cancerous inoperable brain tumor.

Chad's mother Tammi said she is hopeful and praying for a miracle while her little boy undergoes radiation at U-M Hospital.

"We've had three patients here that are living, so that gives us some hope," she said. "Something good is coming from this. Ultimately, we are very hopeful that our plan is the same as God's plan, but we don't know. It's tough every day."

Carr said when she was working at U-M Hospital as a major gifts fundraiser, she used to pray every night that she wouldn't have to live like the people she was trying to help. But at the same time, Carr said she knew she would -- with a part of her life leading to Chad's diagnosis.

"Again, I don't really believe in coincidences. So, we end up in the Lloyd Carr cancer unit which my father's name is on for fundraising for the new children's hospital, he was the coach here and the campaign I led, it's just crazy irony," she said.

Carr is asking for continued prayers for her son as she raises awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research. She started a #CHADTOUGH campaign, selling orange bracelets and shirts with all the proceeds going to  pediatric brain tumor research at C. S. Mott Children's Hospital.
