Caught On Camera: Victim Fires Back At Gunman After Mugging At Detroit Gas Station [VIDEO]

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are hoping the public can help identify and locate a suspect who was caught on camera mugging a man on the city's northeast side.

The incident, which was captured on surveillance cameras, happened around 4 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the BP gas station along East 7 Mile Road and I-75.

According to police, the 29-year-old victim was pumping gas into his vehicle when the suspect approached with a gun drawn. The suspect then forced the victim to place his hands on the vehicle as he searched his pockets.

Police say the suspect checked the victim's wallet and discovered there was no cash inside, so he began to walk away from the victim with
the victim's wallet still in hand. Seconds later, there was an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and the victim.

The victim did not sustain any injuries. At this time, it's unknown if the suspect was struck by any of the shots.

The suspect was last seen fleeing northbound on Omira Street in an unknown color Grand Prix with two other male suspects.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect, knows of his whereabouts or has any other information is urged to contact police at 313-596-1140, or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
