Castellanos Expected To Miss A Month, Zimmermann Back On DL

DETROIT (CBS Detroit/AP) — The Detroit Tigers are putting Jordan Zimmermann back on the disabled list.

Zimmermann pitched Thursday in his first start back from a neck problem. He was pulled in the second inning with a lat muscle issue, and manager Brad Ausmus said after Saturday night's game that Zimmermann would go on the DL. Daniel Norris will replace him in the rotation.

Zimmermann is 9-5 with a 4.44 ERA. After a brilliant April, his season has been knocked off stride by injuries.

Also hitting the DL will be third baseman Nick Castellanos. The 24-year-old suffered a non-displaced fracture of the fifth metacarpal of his left hand after being hit by a pitch during Saturday's 6-5 win over the Mets.

In his third full season in the Majors, Castellanos was in the midst of a breakout year, batting .286 with 18 home runs. He is expected to miss at least a month.
