Carrera To Start In Center Field Vs. Yankees

NEW YORK (97.1 The Ticket) -- With the departure of Austin Jackson in last week's blockbuster trade which brought David Price to the Detroit Tigers, many wondered who would take over out in the vast reaches of Comerica Park's center field.
Newly called-up center fielder Ezequiel Carrera will get the nod from manager Brad Ausmus in Monday's opener against the Yankees in New York.

Carrera batted .307 with 15 doubles, 41 RBIs and swiped 43 bases while playing with the Toledo Mud Hens this season. Carerra had stints with the Cleveland Indians and the Philadelphia Phillies in the major leagues, posting .251 average and 18 stolen bases in 133 career games.
In the weekend series where the Tigers swept the Colorado Rockies out of town, Rajai Davis patrolled center field while raking at the plate, hitting 7-of-11 with two doubles, three RBIs and a stolen base while hitting in Jackson's lead-off spot.
