Car Pulled From Giant Sinkhole On Hayes Road In Macomb County

MACOMB (WWJ) - A giant sinkhole in Macomb County in the middle of Hayes Road between 23 and 24 Mile roads, has caused  the road to be closed in that area.

Keith Garren saw it when he was getting home from work Tuesday morning.

"When I came here, the wreckers and everybody and the cops were all here pulling the car out," said Garren.

"They say it's a sewer pipe -- if you go up there and you look -- they say the sewer pipe broke and leaked and I think it could be a combination -- I'm not no engineer, it's a big hole," he said.

The hole spans about 15-20 feet across the road.

And despite a road closed sign and orange barrels, not everybody's turning around.

"And they come all the way down here and they try to get by, it's a hassle," said Garren.

Several vehicles have gone in the grass around the closure and a few other people have stopped to take pictures of the big sink hole.
