Cancer Center On U-M Campus Cleared Due To Chemical Spill

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - The Cancer Center on the U-M Medical Campus evacuated of non-essential personnel and researchers Tuesday afternoon following a chemical spill.

U-M Public Safety Spokeswoman Diane Brown told WWJ that patients undergoing treatment and their providers are still in the building.

"There is some area of patient treatment - that occurs in that building and those patients as well as their providers are still in the building," Brown said.

She said there isn't a lot of information on the spill right now.

"Exactly what has been spilled or how it's been spilled we don't have that information yet," she said.

So far no word yet on hazmat level of the spill or whether the cleanup of the spill has begun.

Stay with WWJ as we continue to follow this developing story.
