Cabrera Leaves Game After Being Hit In Knee Area With Pitch

DETROIT (AP) - Miguel Cabrera left Detroit's game against Tampa Bay on Sunday in the seventh inning after being hit around the left knee with a pitch.

Cabrera was hit by Dana Eveland's pitch while leading off the bottom of the seventh. The Detroit slugger hobbled around for a while, and trainer Kevin Rand came out to check on him. Cabrera went to first to try to play on, but he was removed for a pinch runner moments later. The Tigers say he has a left knee bruise and is day to day.

Cabrera had three hits Sunday, including a homer. He was the second key Detroit player to leave with an injury. Starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann exited in the sixth with a strained right groin.
