Cable Detaches From Top Thrill Dragster, Shutting Ride Down
SANDUSKY, Ohio (CBS Detroit) -- One of the tallest roller coasters in the world was closed on Monday after a scary mechanical malfunction.
The Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio was shut down after a cable line became detached from the ride late Sunday night.
Two people were taken to first aid after the incident and evaluated, according to the Sandusky Register.
The ride will undergo a "thorough inspection" and is expected to reopen on Tuesday.
The Top Thrill Dragster is the second-tallest roller coaster in the world at 420 feet. It reaches a top speed of 120 miles per hour in under four seconds.
The ride is shut down periodically due to high winds and other weather concerns.
