Business Brisk At Local Resale Shop

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - A silver lining after the rains came last week - business is booming for resale shops.

Mary Lantz is the manager at the Salvation Army store in Royal Oak and she says business has doubled, and while that's great for business, it's important for people to know that damaged goods are not accepted at the resale shop.

"We're not accepting water damaged merchandise - we can't because it ruins the stuff that's good," said Lantz.

She says with an increase in volume, it's important that the staff concentrate on items for resale, not on items that have to be trashed.

"But it's time-consuming with the wet stuff that's ruined," said Lantz, "I would just ask everybody; please just throw it away if it's been flood damaged, we can't sell it, and Royal Oak is picking up everyone's trash, so please just throw it away."

The store allows donations every day this week.
