Burned Vehicle Found In Ditch At M-1 Rail Construction Site In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Investigators are trying to figure out exactly what happened after a badly burned vehicle was found in a ditch at a construction site for the M-1 Rail in Detroit.

The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when discovered early Tuesday morning along Woodward Avenue at Antoinette Street, just north of I-94.

Reporting live from the scene, WWJ's Mike Campbell said the car is in an excavated hole between the freeway and what would be the westbound service drive. The vehicle is not visible from the roadway and could only be seen by climbing over the M-1 Rail construction barricades.

It's not yet clear if the vehicle crashed and caught fire or if it was intentionally set on fire. Police said no one was in the vehicle when it was discovered and investigators aren't exactly sure how it got there.

An investigation is ongoing.
