Brother Of QB Michael Vick Charged With Assaulting Officer

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) — The brother of quarterback Michael Vick has been charged with assaulting a police officer who was arresting him on a contempt charge in Virginia.

Newport News police said in a statement Monday officers responding to a report of a wanted person on Sunday found 32-year-old Marcus Vick of Marietta, Georgia, in a business. When an officer tried to arrest Vick, police say Vick pushed the officer and fled. He was quickly caught.

Police spokesman Harold Eley confirms that Vick is the former Virginia Tech quarterback drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2006. He is the brother of Michael Vick, who pleaded guilty in 2007 and served nearly two years in prison for his role in a dogfighting ring before returning to the NFL.

Attorney Lawrence Woodward Jr. declined to comment.
