Boy, 13, Pulled From Lake After Falling Through Ice While Chasing After Dog

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP (AP) — A 13-year-old boy has been pulled from a western Michigan lake after he fell through thin ice while trying to catch his dog.

The Holland Sentinel and MLive.com report that paramedics tossed a line to the boy Monday afternoon in Lake Macatawa in Holland Township.

A state conservation officer then crawled out and pulled the boy to thicker ice. Holland Township is southwest of Grand Rapids.

The boy, from nearby Holland, was being treated for hypothermia.

His dog also fell into the water, but was able to escape.
