Bowling Alley Roof Collapses Under Weight Of Ice And Snow

BANGOR TOWNSHIP (AP) - Authorities say the roof of a southwestern Michigan bowling alley has collapsed under the weight of excessive ice and snow.

The collapse of the pitch roof at Lariat Lanes in Van Buren County's Bangor Township destroyed most everything inside.

Fire Chief Derek Babcock says the 58-year-old building will have to be torn down.

Only the front part of the building containing the kitchen and dining areas remain.

Co-owner Dick Hensley says he's not sure if he will rebuild the eight-lane alley, though it's insured. He's been salvaging what he can.
