Books Among Items At Elmore Leonard Estate Sale

BLOOMFIELD TWP. (WWJ/AP) - Books, furnishings and other contents from the metro Detroit home of the late author Elmore Leonard are being sold at a three-day estate sale.

The sale takes place at Leonard's home at 2192 Yarmouth in Bloomfield Township, near Cranbrook and Maple roads -- from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Items for sale, according to a listing on EstateSales.net, include first-edition and signed books, furniture, lamps, linens, rugs, garden accessories, outdoor furniture and more.

Leonard died Aug. 20 at age 87 from complications of a stroke he suffered a few weeks earlier. He leaves behind five children, twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Leonard won an honorary National Book Award in 2012, and fans made best-sellers out of pretty much every one of his books since 1985's "Glitz." Hollywood adapted his work into dozens of movies and TV shows, including the films "Out of Sight" and "Get Shorty."

Separately, the nearly 5,000 square-foot home was sold for $1.6 million.
