Bomb Squad Gives All-Clear After 'Dummy Grenade' Found In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - The bomb squad was called to midtown Detroit after what appeared to be a hand grenade was found outside a company that deals with chemicals.

The discovery was made Wednesday morning outside Detroit Renewable Energy in the 5700 block of Russell, near the I-75 and I-94 interchange. The plant was evacuated and the bomb squad was called in.

After the object was quarantined, the bomb squad determined it was a non-explosive dummy grenade and gave the all-clear. No injuries were reported.
