Body Pulled From Detroit River Near Renaissance Center

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Authorities are trying to determine the cause of death of a man whose body was found floating in the Detroit River.

Detroit police say the body was spotted around 7 p.m. Wednesday in the water near the Chene Park amphitheater and recovered near downtown's Renaissance Center.

Authorities say it's not yet clear how long the man was in the water, but reports described the body as "decomposed."

The man's identity wasn't immediately released. An autopsy is planned to determine cause of death.

The U.S. Coast Guard assisted Detroit police in recovering the body from the river.
