Body In Lansing River Identified As Man Missing For Months

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - A body recovered this month from the Grand River in Lansing belongs to a 56-year-old man reported missing earlier this year.

Lansing police public information officer Robert Merritt says a medical examiner identified the remains as Manuel Pena.

A cause of death has not been determined.

The Lansing resident last was seen in April. His body was pulled from the river on Oct. 7. His leg was found last month by someone fishing in the river.

The body of his girlfriend, Josephina Betancourt, was pulled from the Grand River in May.
