Body Found In Ypsilanti's Ford Lake Identified As Tonya Jackson

YPSILANTI (WWJ) -- Medical examiners have confirmed that a body found in Ford Lake in Ypsilanti Township on Thursday morning has been positively identified as 43-year-old Tonya Jackson.

Jackson was last seen by co-workers in Romulus more than a year ago. Derrick Jackson with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department said that family members had identified the body a day earlier.

"We were pretty confident that it was Tonya," Jackson said. "Investigators were pretty confident with Ms. Jackson, but it was officially confirmed by the medical examiner's office."

Derrick Jackson said that officials are still waiting for an official cause of death.

"There's really nothing at this point, I mean there's just so many questions," Jackson said. "There are lots of possibilities, it's just hard to speculate at this point."

Deputies with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's office, Tuesday afternoon, were searching in and around Ford Lake after a passerby Tonya Jackson's I.D. on the shore.

Jackson, a mother of three, was last seen May 3, 2014, at Knight's Inn in Romulus, where she met with a coworker for drinks.
