Authorities: Man Found Dead In Detroit Manhole Was 'Definitely Electrocuted'

DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities say a man whose body was found in a manhole on Detroit's west side was "definitely electrocuted."

Police say the body was discovered around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday on Oregon Street and the I-96 service drive, not far from West Grand Boulevard.

Authorities say their initial investigation indicates that the victim, an unidentified black male, was electrocuted. According to reports, the man might have been killed while trying to steal wires. Tools commonly used to strip wires were reportedly found near the scene.

Investigators remained on the scene early Thursday morning, along with utility and fire department officials.
