Body Found Burning In Street On Detroit's East Side

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are investigating after a burning body was discovered in an east side neighborhood.

Firefighters were called to the 8800 block of Moffat Street, near Gratiot and Warren, around 1 a.m., to extinguish the flames.

Police have not said if they believe the victim, found in the street in front of a vacant building, is a male or female. Reports say the body was burned beyond recognition.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner is working to identify the person. An autopsy will be performed.
