Bicyclist Seriously Injured, Struck By Vehicle On Farmington Road

FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - An elderly bicyclist has been seriously injured in a crash in Farmington Hills.

It happened at around 11 a.m. Thursday along Farmington Rd. at Tulipwood Rd., north of 12 Mile.

According to investigators, a 73-year-old  Farmington Hills man was biking southbound on the sidewalk along Farmington Rd. when he entered the roadway at a private driveway. There's when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 50-year-old Novi resident.

The bicyclist was taken by EMS to Beaumont Hospital where he was listed in serious condition. Police said the Novi resident was also taken to Beaumont. It's unclear how badly the driver may have been hurt.

Farmington Rd. was closed between 12 Mile Rd. and 13 Mile Rd. following the incident, but has since reopened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
