Bicyclist Killed In Shooting At Detroit Gas Station

DETROIT (WWJ) - A bicyclist was gunned down at a gas station on Detroit's east side and now, police are searching for his killer.

The shooting took place early Thursday morning outside of the Citgo gas station on Chalmers Avenue at Houston Whittier Street.

According to police, a man in his 20s rode his bike up to the gas station and was about to go inside when a man in a newer, white Chevy SUV got out of his vehicle and started firing. The gunman then fled the scene.

By the time police arrived at the gas station, the victim was dead. Police say he had at least two gunshot wounds. His name has not yet been released.

A motive for the shooting remains unclear. No arrests have been made.

Investigators are hoping to obtain surveillance video from the gas station that might have captured the murder.

The suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion, about 5'7" tall and 200 lbs. with a goatee beard, wearing a baseball cap and black jacket. He was driving a white Chevrolet Suburban.
