Beyoncé Becomes Most-Nominated Woman in GRAMMYs History

Last year Beyoncé slid past the GRAMMY nominations, releasing her self-titled opus after the cutoff date. But this year, the artist is getting her due.

With the nominations that have been released so far, the singer has just become the most-nominated female artist at the GRAMMYs in history, surpassing Dolly Parton—and there's still a chance that she'll add more tallies to her title before the day is over.

It only took one nomination for Bey to outnumber Parton, doing so in the Best Urban Contemporary Album category. Up until today's announcement, the two had been tied. Last GRAMMY season, Beyoncé tied with Dolly Parton's 46 nominations when she was up for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration with her feature on Jay Z's "Part II (On the Run)."

Parton's GRAMMY streak started back in 1970 when she was nominated for Best Country Vocal Performance By a Duo or Group with the Porter Wagoner-assisted "Just Someone I Used to Know." She kept racking in the nominations until she finally won her first GRAMMY in 1979 for Best Country Vocal Performance in the female category with "Higher & Higher."

Last year Parton was nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance with Kenny Rogers in their collaborative album You Can't Make Old Friends.

Beyonce was first nominated for a GRAMMY in 2000 when she received nods in Best R&B Performance By a Duo or Group with Vocals and Best R&B Song with Destiny's Child's "Bills, Bills, Bills." To date, Beyonce has racked up ten more GRAMMYs than Dolly Parton, who's taken home seven.

Of course, don't count out Parton just yet; there's still a chance she could snag nominations for her 2014 album Blue Smoke or its songs.
