Balloons Cause Thousands To Lose Power In Warren

WARREN (WWJ) -- Nearly 4500 Warren residents were without power Saturday evening due to a large group of mylar balloons that got tangled in high voltage power lines.

DTE Energy's Lisa Bolla said that the outage was temporary and only lasted about two hours.

According to the DTE outage map, most of the outages were in the area between Van Dyke and Schoenherr, between 12 Mile and 14 Mile roads.

Bolla said the balloons contain metal and can cause problems if they get caught in the lines.
