Authorities Seeking Tips From The Public After Truck Bombing In Springfield Township

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - The Oakland County Sheriff says it was a bomb that set a truck on fire in the driveway of a home in Springfield Township last weekend.

But Sheriff Mike Bouchard says they're still looking for tips into who placed that bomb under the truck as it was parked in a driveway on Tindall Street just after 8 a.m. Saturday.

"We are looking for any information; people who may have been in the area - that saw a car driving around early in the morning, or maybe somebody on foot, any kind of information or maybe they heard somebody talking about 'I'd like to do this or do that, get even,' or whatever the motive ultimately is ...," said Bouchard.

He says the force of the blast sent the truck's windshield flying over the roof of a home and into a backyard 100 feet away.

Bouchard says he thinks the owner was deliberately targeted, but he doesn't yet know why.

"I don't have anything specific to point to ... based on years in this business I don't think it was random and I don't think it was a prank."

There was no one in the truck and no injuries.
