Authorities: Man Dies In Northern Michigan Logging Accident

MELLEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 68-year-old man has died following a logging accident in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

The Daily Press of Escanaba reports John Alfred Goffin of Wallace was hauling a load of logs down a snow- and ice-covered hill using a skidder on Tuesday night in Menominee County's Mellen Township when the skidder overturned on its side.

Goffin was pinned between the cab roll bar and the ground. The sheriff's department says he died at the scene.
