Authorities ID Michigan Truck Driver Killed In South Dakota Crash

KADOKA, S.D. (AP) - Authorities have identified a Michigan man who died after a crash at a scenic overlook in western South Dakota.

The Highway Patrol says 54-year-old Gary Haggard, of Clarkston, Michigan, was driving a semitrailer that tipped over Friday morning after hitting a curb and slid into a car at the overlook off Interstate 94 west of Kadoka.

No one was in the car, but two women standing nearby suffered life-threating injuries when they were struck by the car. One was from Georgia and the other from South Korea. They were traveling together.

The two women were flown to a Rapid City hospital. Haggard was taken to a Philip hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
