Authorities Find Man's Body In Northern Michigan Wooded Area

FIFE LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- A man's body has been found in a wooded area in northern Michigan, southeast of Traverse City.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that authorities searching for a Fife Lake Township resident found the body Friday afternoon.

A lawn maintenance worker who was unable to locate the owner of a seasonal home in the area contacted the Grand Traverse County sheriff's office after seeing the homeowner's vehicle.

An autopsy was scheduled Saturday to identify the body and determine how the man died.

Sheriff's office Capt. Chris Clark said authorities "weren't able to identify the man through conventional means like photo identification or distinguishing marks because of the condition of the body."

Clark said "there's nothing at this time that appears to be suspicious."
