Authorities Arrest Man With Real-Looking Weapons At Mall

DELTA TOWNSHIP (AP) - Authorities say they arrested a man who appeared to be wearing a bullet-resistant vest and carrying weapons outside an entrance to the Lansing Mall.

The Eaton County sheriff's department says the 28-year-old Lansing man was found Sunday with real-looking weapons that turned out to be "airsoft replica guns." Undersheriff Jeffrey Cook says he also was carrying a collapsible metal baton similar to ones used by police.

Cook says the man "certainly caused a lot of concern" at the mall in Delta Township.

The man was expected to face charges of disorderly conduct and obstructing police, according to a report in the Lansing State Journal.

Nicole Lance, who works at the mall, says she saw the man outside an entrance near the mall's movie theater. She says officers "took everything off of him."
