Authorities: 2 Infants In Pontiac Die In Separate Incidents Over Weekend

PONTIAC (WWJ) - Oakland County Sheriff's are investigating two infant deaths that occurred over the weekend.

Both deaths occurred in Pontiac, and in both cases a caregiver was sleeping with an infant.

The first case which happened on Firelight Lane --- sheriffs deputies were called to home where a 3-month-old was reportedly not breathing.

When emergency personel arrived on the scene -- a relative was performing CPR.

The infant was taken to McLaren hospital where the little boy was pronounced dead.

After investigating police say an aunt had been sleeping with the infant boy on the couch.

In the second incident police were called to a home on Thorp Street -- responding to a report of a 1 year-old not breathing.

When police arrived, EMS was performing CPR.

This baby was also taken to McLaren Hospital where it was pronounced dead.

Deputies found that the child was being cared for by the grandmother.

The child was sleeping in bed with the grandmother and another six year old grandchild.

Both deaths remain under investigation.
