Authorities: 2 Detroit-Area Churches Targeted For Break-Ins

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say two suburban Detroit churches were targeted for break-ins in recent days.

The Oakland County sheriff's department says deputies responded Saturday to New Beginnings Baptist Church in Orion Township following a report that a rear window was broken out at the church, doors and cabinets were pried open and money was taken.

The break-in was believed to have taken place between 9 p.m. Friday and sometime Saturday morning.

On Friday night, deputies around 9 p.m. responded to a burglary alarm at nearby Bethany Pentecost Tabernacle Church. Deputies found that a rear door of the church had been damaged by a pry bar but no one got inside. Extra patrols are planned in the area.
