Arrests Could Be Connected To Threat Against Detroit Police Chief

DETROIT (WWJ) - The arrest of five people in Detroit could be related to death threats made against Detroit Police Chief James Craig.

Police speaking to WWJ Newsradio 950 Tuesday afternoon confirmed that five people were arrested on unrelated charges; but investigators say they could be connected to the threats.  At least one of the suspects is from California.

It was not immediately clear whether the suspect who actually made the threat is among those arrested.

On Saturday, the police department announced that a threat had been made against the police chief but did not provide specifics.  Sunday, Craig said he believes the threat was made by a gang member and drug dealer.

The FBI, Michigan State Police, and other agencies are investigating.
