Armed Robbery At Detroit Dollar Store Caught On Camera [VIDEO]

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are hoping the public can help identify a man who robbed a dollar store on the city's east side at gunpoint.

The incident happened around 7:55 p.m. on Sunday, April 24 at the Dollar Tree on East Warren Avenue and Farmbrook Street, just west of Mack Avenue.

According to police, the suspect entered the store and struck up a conversation with an employee. He then produced a weapon and ordered the employee to the front of the store.

"A second employee was observed inside the store and both were ordered into the office," police said in a statement. "The suspect demanded that the safe be opened, took an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency and fled on foot."

The employees were uninjured during the incident, which was captured on the store's surveillance cameras.

The suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion and large build, 30- to 35-years-old, 6'2" tall and 245 lbs. with a full beard and mustache. At the time, he was wearing a black jacket, black pants, black shoes and a gray baseball cap with a black bill.
