Approaching 1-Year Deadline, Detroit-Area Man Finally Claims $328,000 Lottery Prize

LINCOLN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Three days before the one-year deadline, a Detroit-area man stepped forward to pick up a $328,000 Michigan lottery prize.

The 58-year-old man told officials Friday that he had kept the ticket in a safe deposit box. He says he knew he won shortly after the Oct. 12, 2014 drawing but "was in no hurry" to get the windfall.

The state didn't release his name, saying he chose to remain anonymous. He lives in Lincoln Park and bought the Fantasy 5 ticket at a party store in Lincoln Park.
